This is a soundtrack that just works perfectly with the game. Whether it's the upbeat Isle One, the incredibly fun Isle Two, the especially jazzy Isle Three, or the slightly unnerving Inkwell Hell, you would have a hard job trying to imagine your initial thoughts of these places if not for the amazing job creating these locations through the music. Whether it's the calming Elder Kettle, the sinister Die House, the exciting Floral Fury, or the crazy Botanic Panic, whenever you hear any of the songs, you get an image in your head of the character, their attacks, and how goddamn difficult they were to defeat! And that's not even talking about the settings' soundtracks. For a game with basically no dialogue between characters, only a handful saying anything, these tracks just do so much to speak about the characters.

Each track has its own personality which perfectly represents the settings, characters, and the many hectic fights. It's length can be quite intimidating, but once you actually sit down and play it, you can't stop.īut this soundtrack truly shines when playing the game. As much fun as it is to listen to it on its own, you aren't going to see many people listening to it without playing the game. That's not to say that there aren't video game soundtracks that are worth mentioning as being good, but there aren't many that are able to contribute to the enjoyability like Cuphead's soundtrack does.Ī three hour long, 56 track jazz record that's so colourful, creative, and enjoyable that you can find yourself listening to it even without playing the game. This is easily one of my all time favourite soundtracks in gaming, only being beaten out by GTA Vice City, as well as maybe GTA San Andreas, but aside from those two, I can't think of any other games that have a soundtrack this good. This is about as perfect as a video game soundtrack is going to get. So that's what I'm gonna do.Ĭuphead's soundtrack is excellent. Two years later and it's still one of my favourite gaming experiences, has risen to be one of my all time favourites, and is one of the few video games that I actually like to play every now and then.Īs much as I'd like to just talk for days about how much I adore this game, nobody's on this site to read about that.
